Kgatleng District is located in the south eastern part of Botswana and it cover 7 600km2. Mochudi, is the largest village in the district and the administrative headquarters of the district was originally founded in 1871 as the capital of the Bakgatla tribe. The district had a population of 44,461 people in 1981 which increased to 57,770 people and 73,507 people in 1991 and 2001 respectively.
